Sustainability and renovation of a national monument on the Lage Gouwe in Gouda

Kokon is currently working on the sustainability and renovation of a national monument on Lage Gouwe in Gouda. In phase 1, a new living area is being created on the ground floor to accommodate home care. Little remained of the floor in the back room, and before the new floor could be installed, the local Archaeological Society of Golda conducted an excavation. The wooden floor lay directly on the sand. Among other things, they found – among other things – beautiful Gouda tiles, an antique tiled floor, and even the old fireplace, which had been carefully dismantled at the time. At some point, the decision was made to raise the sunken floor of the house, a typical Gouda phenomenon. Fortunately, these treasures were preserved in the ground and have now been recovered. The design of the house has been adapted to preserve the old floor for future generations.
