Hugh Maaskant

Although Maaskant operated completely outside the theoretical circuit, he still had great admiration for architects who could contribute to the field at a theoretical level. At the end of his life, that was a reason for him to devote a part of his assets to the establishment of the Rotterdam Maaskant Prize for 'those who have made themselves useful for the profession in the way of science, teaching or publicity'.
