Deltaplein, Centrumplan

Kokon has designed a new centre for the village of Voorschoten, containing apartments, commercial space and a parking garage.

The plan consists of a long triangular city block with a large underground parking garage, shopping mall, restaurants, and a restaurant pavillion on the square at the end of the shopping street.

In order to blend the new block in with the surroundings, the choice was made to segment the building's facade as to appear as separate buildings.

A lot of work was put into the logistics for traffic and the parking garage. All infrastructure was completely modelled into the BIM model before the superstructure was modelled.

In the design stage hand drawn sketches were digitised and attached to the 3D model. This model was used as a communication model during the design process and later augmented with the BIM model of the new superstructure.

This project has proven that the need for information varies for every party involved in the process. With the BIM model, the architect and clients were able to supply information to all parties, which was consistent, clash free and custom made.

All building activities can be followed on this website.
