Hoofdwachtstraat

At the end of the Westkade/Hoofdwachtstraat in Hellevoetsluis, a new apartment building was developed, in the style of the surrounding buildings. The 21 apartments are located in a carfully designed urban situation, within the restriction of indiviual apartments not being legible in the facade. Even the slightest indication of being an apartment building needed to be avoided in this beautiful but sensitive location.

The resulting project fits in with the surrounding architecture, with its diversity of buildings and styles along the 'Koopvaardijhaven' harbour. Within Hellevoetsluis' historical context of merchant shipping, such volumes are an authentical element. The building's character blends in well with its surroundings.

Hoofdwacht was completed in 2021 and is now the postcard for Hellevoetsluis.
