Rodenrijse Velden

Kokon has designed the urban development plan for ‘Rodenrijse Velden’ at the location where once a pallet factory used to be.  The location is situated in two municipalities, two regional water authorities and a gas pipeline runs straight through it.

The basic idea of the urban development plan is to position the houses as much as possible on a special public space. Houses are not situated along on a street, but at 'het Lint' (the ribbon), 'de Brink' (the village green), 'het Park' (the park) or on the 'peninsula / island'. Cars are kept out of the streets as much as possible. The houses are positioned and designed in such a way that they invite interaction with the public space.
